About Me

I am from a family of 4 children with a Malaysian Chinese mum and a Scottish English dad.
I started playing the violin when I was five taught by Joyce Yanez and later with Ellen Martin.
This meant that I became the fourth and youngest member of an at times "fiery" quartet with my siblings (three violins and a piano).
At the age of fourteen I successfully auditioned at the Junior Royal Academy of Music where I studied violin under the guidance of Ben Wragg and later Rafael Todes (Allegri Quartet)

Rafael successfully tutored me through my auditions to being offered a scholarship at Trinity Laban Conservatoire to study violin under Rivka Golani.

Rivka originally played the violin but her international fame and the instrument she principally teaches is the viola so it was not surprising that I chose to study viola, hence I can teach both instruments

Later I studied with Emmanuella Reiter at Trinity who previously served as teaching assistant to Kim Kashkashian in the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and founded the highly successful Jigsaw Players.
More Recently, I studied at the Guild Hall School of Music under Matthew Jones (Senior Tutor for Strings Chamber Music) who is a member of the The Bridge Duo and the Debussy Ensemble and was a member of the Badke String Quartet when they won the 2007 Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition.
All my teachers have been important in my musical development and have given me experience of different styles of teaching.
I have many years experience teach individually and more recently in quartets and small groups.
